1. The Concept

The Wings for Life World Run.
Over 300.000 athletes start at the same time at 8 “flagship run” locations and hundreds of “app run” locations all over the globe. They try to run as far as possible on a track of 75km in length before getting caught by the Catcher Car (Last Man Standing).

Beside the flagship runs the participants can also run via the official WfLWR App. There is the option of running individually, or to join an App Run Event nearbyThey start at the same time as everyone else in the world and will be chased by a virtual Catcher Car. The App will keep them updated by telling them how far ahead they are and telling them when they are caught. Then the race is over, and they see their result on the Global Result List.

The World Run is a charity event organized by the “Wings for Life”-Foundation, which raises money to find a cure for spinal cord injury.

There is a lot to do if you want to get a global ranking for this race.
In the following, you will find a detailed description of the systems, the software and the tasks you need to accomplish.
Also, you’ll find timelines to be prepared on the days leading up to the race as well as on Race Day itself, May 5th.
