7. Troubleshooting / FAQ
7.1.1. No connection to MiniTrack in CCs
Check if the LED of the ethernet port on the MiniTrack are lit. If so, the server address may be misconfigured.
You can check this in the Menu under Server > Primary Server > Address (Menu “2-1-2”). The server address should be 172.20.23.2. In case a different server address is configured, please change it and try to reconnect.
When there is still no connection to the MiniTrack please try to connect the Ethernet cable to the second Ethernet port on the MiniTrack.
7.1.2 No GPS Signal
The GPS receiver needs some time to pick up a signal. Wait for at least two minutes after connecting it. Check if GPS reporting frequency is set to 1s on MiniTrack in the Menu under Time à GPS à Frequency (Menu “4-6-3”).
With the new MiniTrack firmware, Flashpoints must be connected to the MiniTrack before you can see the GPS signal in the OBU.
If there is still no GPS signal, please disconnect the GPS receiver and try it again. Also move around. Please make sure you are outside with a clear view of the sky (no roofs) and the GPS-receiver is pointed to the sky.
7.1.3 No Internet Connection
The OBU should connect automatically to the Internet with its integrated SIM card. If this is not working, you have to use the LTE stick with a local SIM card to create an internet connection.
If the OBU cannot connect to the internet via the LTE stick, please check the APN configuration. The settings you need to input should be available on the website of the provider of the local SIM card.
7.1.4 Last-Minute Track Changes
The race track is configured already for each country so the OBU downloads the course automatically for your location.
If there are last-minute track changes, call Race Control immediately!
In this case you probably must switch back to the Config Mode and wait for a few seconds (up to 30) to download the track again. Check in the map view, if the changes have been applied correctly, before going back into Race Mode.
7.2 Minitrack
7.2.1 Wrong Firmware
If you don’t have the correct firmware on your MiniTrack, the system will not work correctly. The following versions are needed (check in Menu “7-3-2”):
- Split and Start Lines: 7.7.2.23 (GPS markers should be disabled – Frequency OFF in Menu “4-6-3”)
- Catcher Cars: 7.7.2.23 (GPS markers should be turned on – Frequency 1s in Menu “4-6-3”)
Note that this is the same version for both the Catcher Car and the split lines (different from previous years) only differing in settings.Call the Race Control if the firmware is not correct on any controller!)
7.2.2. Warning Signal
Every time when a MiniTrack starts beeping go into the Menu and select Messages. There you can see the reason of the signal (“1-1-1” in Menu).
It is possible to enable an audible signal whenever the MiniTrack gets a read from the Flashpoints. This can be very irritating for the athletes (and annoying for yourself). So please turn it off in the Menu under Audio à Beep Off (“5-1” in Menu).
7.2.4 No Connection to the server at 15K and 44K
- Check the Internet connection of the TP-Link Router.
- If there is an Internet connection, check the IP address of the server in the Menu under Server à Primary Server à Address (“2-1-2” in Menu).
- The correct IP – address should be 50.17.233.218
- If something else is configured, please change it and try to connect again.
- Check the GPS frequency setting on the MiniTrack (
seeMenusection4-6-37.2.1-> 1s). If it is set wrong, set the frequency in agreement with the Race Control.
7.2.5 No tag reads / Flashpoints not working
Test if the Flashpoints are working with the white RFID testing card. You can find this card in each controller in its case.case lid. Hold the card in front of the Flashpoints to check their functionality. When the blue light on the card does not start flashing, this means that they’re not working. In this case, please check if the coaxial cables are attached correctly at the Flashpoint and the controller. Check with an startnumber if you can see the read on the Minitrack
7.2.6 No internet at 15K and 44K lines / TP-Link not working
You have an internet connection when the blue light (green means 3G, blue meens 4G) on the data stick is permanently on and/or when the globe symbol of the TP link router is permanently on. If you cannot get an internet connection, try to move a little bit around. You can also ask the local Red Bull team for a local SIM card which may have a better signal in this area.
7.2.7 Configuration of MiniTracks
If there are problems, the Race Control will send you a config file, which must be put in the following place on a FAT32-formatted USB drive:
chrono/New/CtrlCfg.ini
- Copy the file “chrono/New/CtrlCfg.ini” on a USB drive
- Insert the stick when the power of the Controller is turned off
- Turn on the Controller and boot
- When the booting was successful remove the USB drive -> DONE
